SENARA VILLA | Canggu, Bali

During our recent trip to Bali with Davids family we were able to stay the gorgeous Senara Villa. It was exactly what we needed after a busy few weeks hopping from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore. The lush green garden and spacious pool were the perfect combination to help us relax on our island retreat – not to mention the amazing hosts and light airy design only a short hop away from some of Canggu’s best restaurants.

We loved our stay so much that we’ve decided to show you how amazing Senara Villa and to put it on your radar incase you’re planning a trip to Bali!

Senara Villa is situated in the East-Bali town of Canggu, a favourite hotspot among surfers and foodies alike. The villa is only a short drive or a 20 minute walk to one of the most popular surfing spots in Bali. All along the route to the beach you’ll find hipster and healthy eateries to grab some grub. The villa itself is located on a quiet side road with high walls surrounding it, making it feel a million miles away from town.

The villa has three spacious, ensuite bedrooms, each situated in a different corner of the site to ensure complete seclusion and peace. All rooms feature big comfortable beds, air conditioning, traditional artwork and double doors out into the garden.

Our favourite feature however was definitely the huge indoor-outdoor bathrooms. Isn’t a shower in the fresh Bali air, with your own mini-jungle the perfect way to start any day?! The master suite even had a beautiful outdoor tub, for you to indulge in a private flower bath Bali-style.

Social Space

The villa has a huge, open-sided social space. With a fully kitted kitchen, lounge area and dinning table it has everything you would ever need to feel at home. We loved the open-air design as it makes the garden and pool just feel like an extension of building. The villa has a tasteful modern design which mixes incredibly well with the quirky Balinese artwork that is dotted around.

As the main living space is open-sided there is fan instead of AC in-case you aren’t quite as used to the Bali heat and humidity. I was a little apprehensive about what would happen when it rained (as it surely would considering we stayed during monsoon season). However, my worries were unnecessary as the wide awning kept the interior safe and dry. You might also be worried about relaxing in the evenings with the threat of mosquitoes but fear not, the staff lit some citronella coils to repel any bugs.

Swimming Pool

The pool was amazing. Bigger than expected, and deep enough that you can safely dive in and out. The pool is not heated, but that’s exactly what you want so you can escape the humidity of the hot afternoons. Each morning new towels appeared on the loungers and the pool was always spotlessly clean.

Our two hosts kindly let us leave our baggage before check-in time, while they cleaned and refreshed the villa following the last guests. When we came back for check in we were greeted with a fresh fruit smoothie and a tour of the house. The girls came every day to tidy and clean (as you would get in a hotel) and made us breakfast (for an additional fee) on two of the mornings.

We were also lucky to have a security guard there to make sure that the site was safe at all times, and also had large safes in our rooms to keep valuables well and truly secure. The security guard was even kind enough to order AND collect some dinner for us during a particularly wet evening when we were all too tired to venture out in the rain. Above and beyond or what?!

On the coffee table was a brilliant guide to Bali created by the villa staff, with day trip suggestions and lots of local restaurant recommendations for the Canggu area. The girls arranged a car and driver for us for a day so that we could go and explore Ubud which allowed us to see some of the more cultural side of the island. Davids parents enjoyed an extra splash of luxury during our stay and got a couples massage on the outdoor daybed. For a full body massage it was around £7 for an hour and our hosts arranged it on the day.

We booked via Airbnb here. The name is slightly different on Airbnb but its actually the same villa so don’t worry! While the villa has enough double beds to sleep 6, there is a mention on the Airbnb listing that additional beds can be provided for extra children if needed.

If you’re looking for a secluded place to relax in luxury then this gorgeous villa in Canggu is the one for you. Amazing hosts, beautiful setting and only a short walk to some of the best food in Bali. What more could you need?!
