One of the highlights of my trip to Kaohsiung, the biggest city in Southern Taiwan, was exploring the temples around lotus lake. It turns out there are a number of interesting temples to explore around the lake, however we were initially drawn to it in order to explore The Dragon and Tiger Pagoda. These bright twin pagodas have been popping up on my Instagram feed for sometime now, so upon finding myself in Kaohsiung I just had to see if they were as bright in real life!
This is a selection of photos from our morning at the dragon and tiger pagodas on the edge of lotus lake in Kaohsiung.
The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas
The colours of these twin pagodas are so vibrant, and could almost be described as gaudy…but not in a tacky way. They’re really quite beautiful.
It is said that you should enter the mouth of the dragon, and exit the mouth of the tiger in order to transform any bad luck into good fortune. Fingers crossed it worked for me!
If you’re planning a trip to Kaohsiung then I definitely recommend making your way to lotus lake to explore the dragon and tiger pagodas, as well as all the other temples on the lake!
